As the salt market in the UK grows, we are seeing more sea & lake salt entering the UK market. It’s not being sold any cheaper than the top-quality Harvey product but brings with it several problems: 

  • Fine sand sediment, which can scratch the valve of a water softener, and
  • Seafoam can fill the cylinder and create areas within it that are very difficult to regenerate and, therefore, can lead to hard water, and
  • An oil residue from impurities in the water can coat the valve of the softener and prevent the efficient working of the unit, resulting in hard water.
